Dodgers News: Brusdar Graterol Dealing With Unspecified Injury, IL Stint Possible

The injuries just keep on coming for the Dodgers. Pretty much every pitcher on the roster has dealt with some sort of ailment this season that has forced them to miss time. It has caused the team to use players that have no business being in the big leagues and has seen the team drop in the standings. The latest player to fall to this is relief pitcher Brusdar Graterol.

Manager Dave Roberts said after the team’s win against the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday that Graterol was dealing with an arm issue and that he could go to the injured list.

This would be a big loss for the Dodgers and their bullpen as Graterol had been one of the few bright spots for this team. On the year, he holds an ERA of just 1.95 over 37 innings of work. He has also struck out 27 batters and holds a WHIP of 1.189.

If Graterol is indeed headed for the injured list, it just means that the Dodgers potential bullpen options is getting that much smaller. Luckily the team got veteran Daniel Hudson back recently but losing Graterol for any long period of time will hurt. He has been a staple for the Dodgers relief plan over the last few seasons and this stings.

As the trade deadline approaches, it becomes more apparent that LA needs to make some moves. They can’t stay stagnant with this injury-riddled pitching staff and expect to win come October. President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman has some decisions to make and it all starts with addressing the pitching issues of this roster.

And yet, despite all the problems that the team has seen this season, they still find themselves right in the thick of things for a playoff spot and the division crown. That’s a testament to the talent on the roster but even good teams need upgrades sometimes.
