Dodgers News: JD Martinez Officially Activated Off Injured List, Michael Busch Optioned

The Dodgers have officially activated All-Star designated hitter J.D. Martinez off the 10-day injured list, and optioned rookie Michael Busch.

This moves comes as no surprise, as the team said Martinez was likely to return when the Dodgers got to Washington D.C. this weekend.

Martinez has been out for a couple weeks as he’s dealt with a weird groin injury that just wasn’t getting better.

The team is hoping that this time off finally let it fully heal, as this is their last real chance to get him healthy before the postseason.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he’s hopeful Martinez is able to remain healthy and return to his All-Star form, but they don’t really know for sure.

On the year, Martinez is hitting .256 with 25 home runs and 78 runs batted in.

As for Busch, he wasn’t able to make a big enough impact to warrant him sticking around to fight for a postseason push. On the year, he’s hitting just .167 with two home runs and seven runs batted in.

While Busch has dominated at the Triple-A level, he just hasn’t been able to translate that to the big leagues. This could ultimately have been his last chance to make an impact with LA, as the team could look to move him this offseason depending on how things shake out.

If the Dodgers make a big trade this offseason, expect Busch to be involved.
