Dodgers News: Joey Gallo Exits Game With Right Elbow Injury

Tough break for the Dodgers once again as outfielder Joey Gallo exits the game with what was diagnosed as a right elbow contusion. Gallo left in the second inning after being hit by a 96 MPH pitch from Alex Cobb.

It seems the Dodgers once again aren’t able to stay away from injuries, and it comes at a very unfortunate time for Gallo. Since being traded from the Yankees, Gallo has batted a .203 batting average with four home runs and 13 RBI’s in 24 games.

It remains to be seen of the extent of Gallo’s injury or whether or not he will require additional testing or X-ray. The Dodgers will have time to reevaluate the severity of the situation while Trayce Thompson seems likely to get the nod starting in left field until Gallo comes back.

Fortunately the Dodgers remain in a good situation as they are still ahead of the pack by six games on the Astros and still remain poised to keep the top seed. The All-Star studded lineup should continue to step up as they have done all season long.

One thing remains certain, the Dodgers should and have remained patient with the growing list of injured players, but the patience is slowly getting thinner as the Dodgers need to be certain of their lineup heading into the postseason.

  1. Gee, a Giants pitcher throwing at a Dodger? Yeah, THAT wasn’t intentional. They have zero chanc in making the post season, so this is how the Giants figure they can make a difference in the playoffs. Classy, Kapler.
