Dodgers News: Joey Gallo Needed X-Rays Following Hit By Pitch

The Dodgers beat the Giants by a final of 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon. It was the team’s 12th victory over San Francisco this season. While the game went LA’s way, there was an injury scare early in the game.

Outfielder Joey Gallo was drilled in the right elbow by an Alex Cobb fastball. The hit by pitch was enough for Gallo to be removed from the game and be replaced in left field by rookie Miguel Vargas.

Shortly after being taken out of the game, it was revealed that Gallo was taken for x-rays as a precaution. Thankfully, there were no signs of major damage.

Gallo has found decent success with the Dodgers since being acquired from the New York Yankees in a surprising move at the trade deadline. While the numbers aren’t earth shattering, he’s put together a respectable .789 OPS while playing a part time role off the bench.

Certainly his biggest hits in blue are ahead of him, so hopefully he doesn’t miss much time, if any, with this elbow stinger.
