Dodgers News: Mattingly Says Hanley Ramirez Should Avoid DL Stint
The good news regarding the Dodgers’ injuries continues to come as Hanley Ramirez still doesn’t need an MRI and likely won’t in the near future.
Outfielder Matt Kemp says that he will return before September and while he won’t be available to pinch hit in the Cardinals series, Hanley is making significant progress.
According to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly says that Ramirez could be available to pinch hit during this weekends series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Mattingly said Ramirez has made so much progress in 3 days he could be available to PH during Tampa series at home this weekend. #Dodgers

The Dodgers will conclude their four-game series against the Cardinals and then they’ll head home for yet another important series against the Rays.
Even more good knows came from Jim Peltz of the LA Times, who said Hanley should avoid a stint on the DL:
More Mattingly on @HanleyRamirez: ‘We’re feeling a lot more confident that it’s not going to be a DL.’ #Dodgers

While Mattingly hasn’t always been truthful about the extent of the injuries, it sounds like Hanley’s shoulder is doing a lot better as he’s posting Instagram photos showing his improvements.
Dee Gordon will get his first start since his call-up, but he could be going back to Triple-A if Hanley is available to play as early as next week against the Mets.
