Dodgers News: Ryan Pepiot Has Successful Debut in MiLB Rehab Outing

The struggles of the Dodgers’ pitching staff this season have been apparent to anyone paying attention. It has caused frustration throughout the organization as injuries and inconsistent play have taken their toll. But even with all the issues that the Dodgers have seen, they have battled through and currently find themselves sitting in first place within the NL West division.

With the second half of the season started already, the Dodgers are looking for some answers to their starting rotation. They just got Julio Urias back from the injured list but now will be without Clayton Kershaw for the next few weeks. However, they did get some good news a few days ago as right-handed Ryan Pepiot was finally able to make a rehab assignment on Friday night. It was the first step in his return to the mound and he showed out.

Pepiot has missed the entire season due to an oblique injury but it seems like he could be close to a return. He threw a solid outing in his rehab assignment and this is great news for the team.

If they can get Pepiot back, it would be a huge boost to their pitching staff. The young right-hander is a hard thrower and he can help solve some of their pitching issues. He had an ERA of 3.47 last year for the team during his rookie year but he did show promises of why he was once a top prospect in the organization. And prior to the end of the year, he was showing real promise for the future and the team was hopeful to see what he could do over the entire season.

Obviously, his injury derailed that but they could soon be getting him back. It remains to be seen when he would join the Dodgers but this is a major step in the right direction.

LA could really use his arm down the stretch of the season, even if it’s just to eat some innings. Hopefully, Pepiot can return to the team sooner rather than later and we can all watch him help the club win some games.
