Dodgers News: Utley Suspension Overturned, Ryu Update and More | VIDEO
With Spring Training underway, the Los Angeles Dodgers have one less thing to worry about.
It was the slide heard around the world. The slide the Dodgers and their fans all awaited the verdict on, and the waiting is over. The MLB has decided to drop the pending two-game suspension on Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley for his slide in last year’s National League Division Series vs the New York Mets.
L.A. Times writer Bill Shaikin tweeting out a quote from Chief Baseball Officer Joe Torre regarding the league’s decision to drop the suspension.
Torre on Utley's slide: "There wasn’t anything clear-cut to say that play violated a rule." #Dodgers #Mets

His colleague at the L.A. Times, writer Mike DiGiovanna adding to that report with a tweet on Utley.
#Dodgers INF Chase Utley said he has known for weeks that MLB would drop his two-game suspension for hard slide in NLDS.

The Dodgers can now put this behind them and focus on developing their players in Spring Training, as well as getting players back to full health. Something that took a step in the right direction with pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu.
