Dodgers Notes: All-Star Wants to Return to LA, Walker Buehler Away From Team, Cody Bellinger Injured

Is it over yet?

The Dodgers arrived in Philadelphia on Tuesday hoping to close the gap between themselves and the team with the best record in the National League. They left Thursday having been swept in three games by the Phillies. Injuries are more than a convenient excuse, but they aren’t letting up. At least the schedule will: the Dodgers travel to Detroit for three games against the Tigers (45-49) starting today, followed by the All-Star break.

Here’s all the headlines you might have missed:

Kenley Jansen Expresses Desire to Return to Dodgers

In a candid revelation, Kenley Jansen, a celebrated closer and the Dodgers’ all-time saves leader, expressed a poignant desire to end his career in Dodger blue. The emotional ties and the legacy of a player of his caliber paint a story of loyalty and nostalgia that resonates deeply with fans.

A Potential Ace Addition to Bolster The Rotation

White Sox ace Garrett Crochet is emerging as the most sensible fit for a Dodgers team dealing with the uncertainty around Walker Buehler and Bobby Miller, and injuries to two other members of their season-opening rotation. Crochet would provide both immediate impact and long-term value to the team.

No Revenge for David Dahl

Following his stint with the Philadelphia Phillies, former Dodgers outfielder David Dahl finds himself a free agent. The journeyman outfielder, who finished last season with the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate after never being promoted to the majors, was denied a chance at a “revenge series” as he was designated for assignment just before Tuesday’s game.

Former Dodgers Prospect Promoted to MLB

Jordan Leasure, a promising talent originally drafted by the Dodgers, finds his career advancing as he is promoted back to the majors with the White Sox. Leasure was one of two prospects sent to Chicago in the trade that brought Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly to Los Angeles at last year’s deadline.

Cody Bellinger Faces Setback Amid Trade Talks

Cody Bellinger, a notable former Dodgers star now with the Cubs, suffers a significant setback, fracturing his finger, which could complicate his prospects before the trade deadline. This injury could alter the dynamics for potential trade discussions.

  1. Why is Buehler working out away (3,000+ miles) from the Dodgers? Are the negative vibes running that deep in LA? If the look on the faces of some players could tell us a story, I want to hear what’s going on in Freddie’s mind. Something much deeper than a 22-22 record over the past 44 games is going on in Los Angeles and it’s not just about who’s on the IL.
