  1. Tired? Hmm, okay. Anyone else concerned with LAD’s inability to score without HRs? I am. AZ has been mediocre at best this season (and that’s being generous) and they come to our house and own us? Outscored us 17 – 9. They scored runs in 10 different innings of the 27 played. We scored in 3 different innings across those same 27 innings. 6 of those 9 runs were in a single inning outburst with a slam and 2 solo shots. Not trying to be nervous Nelly, but this concerns me as it happens way too often with our team this year. They need to learn to manufacture runs – something they have failed to do 3 seasons in a row in the playoffs and yet they can’t figure out a way to do that with this lineup? Pathetic.

    1. As much as we suffer with each loss we need to keep reminding ourselves that under the current format regular season games simply aren’t that important. We need to focus on keeping our players–particularly the pitching staff–healthy into October. The lack of clutch hitting is concerning but as someone once said, “it’s a long season.”. Nobody has a better team and if we can stay healthy we have a great shot at winning it all in 2024.

      1. So, kind of delusional and completely missed my point. I understand what you’re saying and in other comments on this site I’ve used the phrase “the regular season is a marathon and the playoffs are a sprint”. Our manager is a long distance runner and horrible at sprinting – to continue the analogy. The delusion is you think health is the key to having a “great shot at winning it all in 2024”. Having a manager who actually knows and understands how to manages better in October than in July will go a long way to meeting the expectations that come every year with 100 win regular seasons. What we get instead is poor performance and decisions in October. The team has had a pattern – note I said pattern, not meaning a single loss here or there which is expected – of poor performances this regular season AND Roberts needs to fix this now to have a chance in October. Otherwise, it will be another in a string of EPIC failures in the NLDS again (3 of the last 4 100+ win seasons we were bumped in the NLDS by teams that finished far behind us). If he fails to fix it AGAIN- he’s Marty Schottenheimer. Don’t be such a fan boy that you can’t see this.

This has NOTHING to do with health, but I agree that is important. It has NOTHING to do with “suffer with each loss”. This team cannot figure out how to get a guy from second base to home without a homerun. if they don’t learn how to manufacture runs in other ways, we will fail yet again in October – regardless of health. To my prior comment, LAD scored runs in just 3 separate innings out of the 27 played against a very mediocre AZ team. If you don’t understand the concerns with that, I’ll just wish you a good day and an enjoyable holiday weekend.

Our manager is a long distance runner and for the last 3 years, horrible at sprinting – to continue the analogy. You’re certainly welcome to think that with this manager, health is the key to having a “great shot at winning it all in 2024”. If he fails to fix it AGAIN – the season will end in failed underachievement AGAIN. That’s what I’m saying. Not that they should win every game as you implied.

Although health is important, my comment has NOTHING to do with health. It has NOTHING to do with “suffer with each loss”. This team cannot figure out how to get a guy from second base to home without a homerun. 2. When will Robert’s start playing logical small ball baseball with runners in scoring position with less than 2 outs, use the running speed they have and steal more bases with the many opportunities that they have had with runners on base?
Robert’s also needs to change up the lineup in support of the inconsistency of the bottom four hitters..
