Dave Roberts Reveals When Max Muncy Will Return to Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers could welcome back their lefty slugger Max Muncy back into the lineup sooner rather than later. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided an update on the two-time All-Star on Tuesday, saying he is expected to start hitting in the batting cages in the next two days.
The third baseman took ground balls on the field during Tuesday’s pre-game workout. The Dodgers skipper also said that Muncy will go on a one- or two-game rehab assignment before he is ready to rejoin the Dodgers “some time next week.”
Muncy has missed the last week due to a mild oblique strain and will be eligible to return on Sunday. He is currently on the 10-day injured list. Muncy has been a force to be reckoned with in his seven-year Dodger career. In 791 games, the lefty from Texas has slashed .230/.354/.486 with an .840 OPS, a 125 OPS+, 184 home runs, and 500 RBIs in 2,667 at-bats.
The 2020 World Series champion is currently third in the team in home runs (9), sixth in RBIs (28), and sixth in hits (31).
