Dodgers Notes: LA Signs Veteran Infielder, GM Hints at More Moves, Walker Buehler to Giants?
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed veteran infielder David Bote to a minor league deal that includes an invite to the team’s big league camp in the spring. Bote played a big role for the Chicago Cubs from 2018-21, but the organization chose to outright the infielder in August.
Free agent Walker Buehler remains one of the most established starting pitchers on the market. He has garnered interest from several teams, but an NL West rival has entered the sweepstakes.
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said the team isn’t finished making moves this winter. It remains to be said whether the Dodgers will bring back fan favorites such as Buehler and Teoscar Hernández.

It makes no sense to not sign Bueler, Kike or Teo. If a team threw out 600,000 for Soto… sign those guys. We will never have too much pitching. Give Teo4 years at 85 mill. How do we win the World Series without those three.
How do you know they haven’t offered that or better? And he hasn’t said yes to any offers, assuming he has some from other teams, so maybe he and Boros are over-playing their hand and no one has taken the bait?
It actually makes perfect sense. Not signing one guy doesn’t mean we should be willing to give that money to anybody. We don’t know what the Dodgers motivation was in the offer they made for soto. We know they got outbid and with what the Mets are spending on their roster compared to their revenue the Dodgers actually have more money to spend than the Mets do. If they really wanted soda they would have gotten him they’re bid for Soto was more about getting other teams to make big moves early so we can come in later and get what we want cheaper. The Mets spent big on Soto and for what they spent on him they still have other needs. They’ve got a little money to work with they said they’re not done making moves but they don’t have a whole lot more moves they can make. The Yankees are in such a bad position without him that it looks like they’re going to sell the farm just to get Cody bellinger, a guy who has been inconsistent and who is rather expensive for a guy who has had some very lackluster seasons. Don’t get me wrong I love Bellinger I probably wear his jersey but we do have to be realistic about things. This is going to leave the Yankees with very little left to make trades and already high budget so they don’t have a ton of money to go get free agents and there’s not a lot of free agents on the market anyway. The Padres have done their spending they really don’t have any money to work with or any prospects to work with to make deals I’m not saying their team is set in stone but they’re not going to make any major changes. And the Giants while they do have money they’re in such a terrible position right now so desperate for anything to help and the fridge of Market is so depleted right now but the Giants are looking like they’re going to take a chance and spend big money on Walker Bueller hoping that he recovers when Walker has been heavily injured for the last couple of years. For the end of the day the doctors are in really good shape compared to all these other teams even with just who they’ve got now. And then as far as the guys you’ve mentioned yes they are all huge fan favorites. But Buhler is a huge? That’s going to come at a high price tag there’s better less risky ways we could spend that money. As far as those named Hernandez Kiki is expendable. We already showed that by letting him go once. He’s not a guy the Dodgers need for the regular season you’ve got plenty of guys who can fill that rule. The only real value that comes from Kiki is in the playoffs and his numbers really aren’t that big he just seems to come through had a couple of timely opportunities that makes him stand out. As far as Teo he stepped it up big in the playoffs as well but none of his numbers last season were that big. For what we paid for him last year as a Reclamation project he did great but a year older a year closer to retirement and making more money that’s not such a value anymore. And then looking at what we have we really don’t need him even if he does come up big. Any production we might lose without having Hernandez on office we can make up for defensively our Outfield defense was terrible last year. Maybe not like League worst terrible but considering we’re talking about the Dodgers here a team that typically focuses on defense more so than offense it was one of the worst defensive outfields I’ve seen play at Dodger Stadium in my entire life. We’ve got the best leadoff hitter in baseball the best number two hitter in baseball presumably a healthy Freddy Freeman back Max Muncie to provide us the power in the five hole I’m not worried about our offensive production without either hernandez. Quite the reverse I think our defense will be improved more than enough to offset that
The Dodgers should bring back Kiki and Theo as well plus Walker he was really good for tbe Dodgers plus Ckayton Kershaw as well. The team would not be good without any of those I mentioned.
I agree 100 %
