The World Baseball Classic is approaching, and is now just three months away. With the amount of talent the Los Angeles Dodgers have, there are bound to be some storylines heading into the tournament.
Shohei Ohtani, who declared he’d be playing in the tournament, made his return to pitching this season, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke about the possibility of him pitching in the tournament.
“I don’t know,” Roberts said when asked if Ohtani would pitch in the WBC at the Winter Meetings. “I’m hoping he doesn’t. … I would say, the thought is he’s probably just going to hit, but I don’t know.”
Roki Sasaki is also expected to feature in the WBC, having been named to the preliminary roster on Monday.
Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman is also coming off injury, and underwent surgery this offseason. He gave an update on his recovery to Dodgers Nation.
“It’s going well,” Edman said. “It’s just kind of recovering a day at a time, slowly but surely. I’m going to be in a boot for a couple more weeks and then keep moving around Christmas time and hopefully be 100 percent for next year.”
