Dodgers Outfielder Chooses to Leave Organization Following DFA, Signs With Braves
The pairing between the Los Angeles Dodgers and veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario simply was not meant to be.
In the wake of Shohei Ohtani being reactivated from the paternity list, Rosario was put on waivers. The ex-Atlanta Braves star did clear waivers with the idea that he’d return to Triple-A in Oklahoma City.

Instead, Rosario reportedly does not want to wait around and instead bet on himself playing for another club. That move worked, as on Monday, he signed a major league deal with the Atlanta Braves.
Bringing in Rosario during spring training raised more than a few eyebrows. As one recalls, Rosario was a postseason phenom for the Braves only a few seasons ago. The Dodgers got a front row seat in watching how prolific Rosario could be.
Signed on a minor league deal, there was some intrigue in potentially bringing Rosario up to the big club eventually as a proven bat that would be resurrected with a change of scenery. With injuries piling up and players missing time, Rosario had a cup of coffee with the Dodgers during a road series with the Texas Rangers.
In two games, Rosario had four at-bats resulting in one hit.
It’s not the end of the world for Rosario to elect playing elsewhere. Playing time was always going to be tough to obtain with the veterans already on the roster. Rosario faced an uphill climb to get consistent at-bats, and it would’ve taken a herculean effort for him to play well enough to warrant a spot on the Major League roster.
At the same time, from a Dodgers perspective, he is a proven bat when it matters most. It would’ve been nice to have Rosario as a possible option down the stretch when facing elite pitching. Now, he’ll rejoin the Braves, where he was once a postseason hero just a few years ago.
