Dodgers Reportedly Sign Former Marlins Pitcher to MiLB Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly signed RHP Elieser Hernández to a minor league deal, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. The deal includes an invitation to spring training.
Hernández, 28, last pitched in the majors in 2022 with the Miami Marlins. Hernández has spent all five years of his MLB career with the Marlins, but has also spent time in the Houston Astros’ and New York Mets’ organizations.
Hernández has a career 5.04 ERA in 90 appearances and 48 starts. In 2022, he sported a 6.35 ERA in 20 appearances (10 starts) across 62.1 innings pitched.
Hernández has four pitches — a 4-seam fastball, slider, changeup and sinker. His fastball averages about 92 mph.
The Dodgers likely see something with Hernández they feel they can work on. He’ll work with the pitching coaches and hope to make an impact on the big-league club at some point next season.
For now, he serves as pitching depth in the minor leagues, something you can never have too much of.

This is an area where Friedman excels, working around the edges, adding depth, strengthening AAA. Win/win. If he never develops they lose very little, if he does they get it cheap, add value to the orgsnization and resurrect the players’ career.
We can’t watch our Dodgers play on regular TV, were old and can’t afford expensive cable to watch games ,this is terrible, baseball is not a past time anymore ? very sad ,greedy mother$#@!%&#
The only good thing I see in this pitcher is a high strikeouts per innings pitched count. But he does walk a lot of batters, has had some very high ERA years, and tops out at 92/93 mph on the fastball. The Dodgers must see something though.
I love how all of you everyday fans think your baseball scouts lol.I trust the dodgers organization knows pretty well what they are doing. Just relax and enjoy because it’s all most TIME FOR DODGER BASEBALL!!!
