Dodgers Rumors: Kemp “In Play” For Red Sox, Price Talks To Start
While the off-season is in full swing and there are rumors swirling all over the place, the Dodger outfield situation continues to be in the spotlight as the Winter Meetings are just five days away from beginning.
Yes Dodger fans can’t stand reading that Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier are the two most talked about and the possibility of one of them getting traded increases with each passing day. While there have been reports that Ethier is most likely to go, Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe says the Red Sox are in pursuit of one:
Matt Kemp is in play for the Red Sox and the Dodgers would eat some money in the right deal. Just a question of whether the Red Sox want to

Recent rumors about Kemp and any outfielder for that matter have been of the “checking in” variety, but this rumor seems to be a step above that. The Red Sox lost outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury to the Yankees last night and might be willing to gamble on Kemp. Earlier today it was suggested the Red Sox might make a play for Ethier due to his close friendship with second baseman Dustin Pedroia.
Selling low on Kemp doesn’t make much sense for the Dodgers as trading Ethier still seems more likely, but it’s clear Kemp is getting most of the attention. In all reports about a deal for an outfielder, no player has been mentioned in return, except for a suggestion from Bill Shaikin of the LA Times about an Ethier-Will Middlebrooks swap.
Meanwhile, another trade the Dodgers could look into making revolves around Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price as they believe they can put together an attractive package to acquire his services. With the Masahiro Tanaka posting still in question, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports believes the Dodgers are one of the teams vying for his services:
The Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams that not only have an interest in Price but believe they can put together the sort of package to pry Price from the Rays, sources said.
The Price interest is nothing new for the Dodgers as there have been reports that they’re interested in acquiring him. While the Price talks are yet to start, it sounds like talks for Kemp or Ethier are escalating, quickly.
