Dodgers vs. DBacks Preview: Haren Looks For Win In Rubber Match

[new_royalslider id=”42″] After an 18-7 blowout loss last night, the Los Angeles Dodgers look to get back on track and take the series today against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Dan Haren, who is 5-1 with a 2.84 ERA, takes the mound for the Dodgers this afternoon. The right-hander has been impressive on the season so far and has continued to surpass expectations after coming off a tough season with the Washington Nationals in 2013.

In his last outing, Haren allowed three runs over seven innings in a win against the Miami Marlins. Against the Diamondbacks this season, Haren is 2-0 despite struggling a bit.

Starting opposite Haren is right-hander Josh Collmenter. The Arizona starter has not been able to throw more than five innings in his last two outings and struggled against the Nationals last week, allowing four runs over five innings.

In Collmenter’s last start against the Dodgers, he took a loss as he went six innings and allowed four runs on five hits.

For the Dodgers, Matt Kemp and A.J. Ellis get a day off, while Andre Ethier starts in center and Drew Butera behind the plate. Against Collmenter, Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez each have a home run in limited at-bats, while Ethier is a career .455 against the DBacks right-hander. Juan Uribe is one of the few hitters to struggle against Collmenter in limited time.

Puig is looking to continue his 16-game hitting streak and homer in a third straight game.
