Dodgers: Zach McKinstry Confirmed to Be Returning Today

The Dodgers are getting 2 key players back this weekend, and that’s very bad news for the NL West. It couldn’t come at a better time either, with Los Angeles playing the Giants in a 4-game series this weekend.

Cody Bellinger will be back in the Dodgers lineup on Saturday evening in Los Angeles. That alone would be a huge addition to an already very good lineup. But they also could be getting Zach McKinstry back in there as well, which dramatically shakes things up.

The Dodgers had not yet decided if ZMac will make his return on Saturday or Sunday. But Dave Roberts did confirm that he is coming back with Bellinger. The 2 outfielders have been playing with Triple-A OKC for the past week.

The plan is he’ll be back with us, he’ll arrive with Cody tomorrow. I haven’t decided if he is going to be in there tomorrow. But one of the next 2 days, Saturday or Sunday he will be back in the lineup.

Regardless of which day he returns, the Dodgers getting back both guys is huge. When healthy, McKinstry was one of the most productive bats in the lineup. So much so that he was still leading the team in most offensive categories 2 weeks after he was placed on the injured list.

When both are back in the lineup, the Dodgers will be able to shift around the defense much more efficiently. It takes the pressure off of Chris Taylor to be in the lineup every day and gives Justin Turner some backup over at third base.

  1. And hopefully this will keep Neuse, Tsutsugo, and Peters from playing very much. And keeps Muncy from playing 2B…he is not a 2nd baseman.

  2. Especially with Mookie scuffling, if I’m the opposition, I’m throwing every lefty I’ve got at us with a pulse
