James Outman Reportedly Getting Recalled by Dodgers Amid Jason Heyward Injury Concerns

James Outman is reportedly getting recalled by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Casey Porter of Dodgers Daily reported the news on X on Friday.

This news comes in the wake of outfielder Jason Heyward’s injury. Heyward left Thursday night’s game in the third inning with knee pain. After the game, he didn’t exactly provide a reassuring update.

“With the body you just got to wait and see,” Heyward said. “But this particular position and spot I haven’t felt before.”

Outman was officially optioned by the Dodgers on May 17. This came after a rough start to the season that saw him hit .147/.250/.266 with three home runs, 10 RBIs, and 40 strikeouts. However, since getting to Triple-A, Outman has looked much better, slashing .279/.393/.531 with nine home runs, 21 RBIs, and an OPS of .924.

Nothing has been made official yet, but if Outman is being recalled, it would be expected that Heyward would be going on the IL. More information should come in the next few hours when the Dodger Stadium gates open to reporters.
