Kershaw, Seager, Turner & More: Dodgers Players As Thanksgiving Day Dishes

The 2020 Dodgers roster was full of iconic players and personalities. What if each of them was a Thanksgiving Day dish?

1. Turkey – Clayton Kershaw

After many years of sustained success and notoriety, some call into question the centerpiece of Thanksgiving. You may wonder, is the headliner as good as it used to be? Nostalgia is the most powerful spice of all. As you sink your teeth into that first delicious slice you realize, oh yeah, it might be different, and as good as ever.

2. Stuffing – Walker Buehler

Many argue, is the stuffing better than turkey? Maybe, but much like Buelher’s 2020, there’s never enough to satisfy your appetite. Great stuffing could beat great turkey. There’s always so much potential, not enough volume.

3. Pumpkin Pie – Cody Bellinger

The quality of the pie depends on the year. Sometimes the pie is incredible. It could be considered the best dish of them all. However, sometimes, the pie doesn’t measure up to past performance. At times an afterthought in the incredible Thanksgiving lineup.

4. Gravy – Mookie Betts

A versatile dish that improves other dishes. One could argue that gravy is the five-tool player of Thanksgiving. In any situation, gravy improves its counterpart and takes a dish to the next level. Just like Mookie.

5. Mashed Potatoes – Justin Turner

The fan favorite. The dish that must be on the table for a successful Thanksgiving. It’s not as versatile as it used to be, but mashed potatoes got Thanksgiving to where it is today.

6. Brussels Sprouts – Corey Seager

Trendy, new, and an absolute game changer. Much like Seager, brussels sprouts are quickly rising up the side dish ranks and should not be taken lightly. Their power should not be underestimated.

7. Cranberry Sauce – Dave Roberts

Many times one is impressed by the sauce’s depth of flavor and ability to amplify pre-existing flavors. Other times, it’s a mystery why it’s even there. At times it can do too much, and at times it can do too little. At the end of the day, the sauce helps guide the rest of the meal to success.

8. Dinner Rolls – Max Muncy

Providing consistent performance and output ain’t easy, but you always know what you’re getting from the rolls. Through good times and bad, the high floor of the dinner rolls provides welcoming comfort.

9. Corn – Austin Barnes

Corn serves a vital role in the dinner. Granted, nobody is going to hand it any awards or honors, yet the meal would fall apart without it.

10. Drunk Uncle – Pedro Baez

Every time he shows up, you’re nervous. You constantly hear about how he’s different now and things will be different. Similar to when Baez pitches, anything could happen once he opens his mouth and you can’t wait for his exit.

Which Dodgers would you pick to be the stuffing, the turkey, and everything in between?
