Kiké Hernández Creates Lifelong Memory for 7-Year-Old Dodgers Fan With Latest Home Run

Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Kiké Hernández received a special gift from a fan ahead of Saturday’s 8-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fans lined up on Atlantic Boulevard in Monterey Park for a sold out meet-and-greet with Hernández on Thursday, including seven-year-old Alana Ocampo and her parents. Inside the ONEWAY77 JC sports memorabilia store, Hernández signed autographs and posed for pictures with eager Dodgers fans.

The utility man was the recipient of one special bracelet, which Ocampo handmade for her favorite Dodgers player. Hernández promised Ocampo he would wear the accessory during a game.

On Friday, the Dodgers lineup was shut out by Pirates ace Paul Skenes and Hernández did not play.

However, Ocampo’s blue bracelet perfectly matched the City Connect uniforms the Dodgers wore Saturday night. The gift perhaps served as a good luck charm for Hernández when he entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The 33-year-old was hitting .130 with four home runs and eight RBIs on the season when he stepped up to the plate with the Dodgers up by one run.

On a 3-2 count, Hernández smashed a three-run homer to left field.

The home run from Hernández secured a Dodgers win, but his decision to wear Ocampo’s bracelet created an unforgettable moment for her and her family.

“She’s just a little girl who loves to be a little girl and make bracelets,” Ocampo’s mother, Lauren, said to Dodgers Nation. “She knew we were going to meet Kiké and wanted to bring him something special. She loves going to games with her dad and collecting bobbleheads together.”

The Dodgers fanbase is extremely loyal and passionate, and the story of Ocampo and her blue bracelet is the latest example of why the team is so beloved by the city.

Hernández once said he didn’t know how to repay the fanbase for their continuous support, but on Saturday, he made the payment in full.
