MLB News: Rangers Non-Tender All-Star Outfielder, Should Dodgers Pursue Him?

The Texas Rangers have non-tendered outfielder Adolis Garcia, per ESPN’s Jesse Rogers.

Garcia will now head to free agency after a disappointing 2025 season where he hit .227 with 19 home runs and an OPS of .665.

Garcia joins a light free agent outfield class headlined by Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger with little depth behind them. Garcia is a corner outfielder with a lot of pop in his bat, but is coming off back-to-back down years after a monster 2023 season.

In 2023, Garcia made his second All-Star team, hitting .245 with 39 home runs, 107 RBIs and an OPS of .836. He led the Rangers to the World Series, earning an ALCS MVP honor along the way.

Should the Dodgers Pursue Adolis Garcia?

The Dodgers need an outfielder to replace Michael Conforto. While they’ve been linked to both Tucker and Bellinger, they aren’t expected to go all-in on a long-term contract. Instead, they could look for a shorter-term option, one who would fill the team’s hole for a year or two until their plethora of top outfield prospects are ready for the majors.

Garcia, once a Gold Glove outfielder, remained slightly above-average on defense this past season, which would be a huge upgrade over the defense they got from Conforto and Teoscar Hernandez. However, he doesn’t play center field, which is an area LA is expected to target so they can move Andy Pages back to a corner outfield spot.

Garcia, while he fits the role of a slugger who gets better in the postseason, likely isn’t the most seamless fit. However, LA will likely do its due diligence as they look to fill one of their only real holes this offseason, along with the bullpen.

Overall, Garcia has appeared in 766 games across his seven-year career, slashing .237/.293/.441 with 141 home runs, 459 RBIs and an OPS of .734.

  1. Cody Bellinger, Dodgers could offer a One year deal with options. Make all star, Bonus, hit .260 or near it with 25+ home runs and mvp like defense, Bonus, hit to all fields, 80+ RBI’s, OBP high, Bonus. Incentives and Reward with a 3 year Contract both parties agree on. Cody can play Center, so can Pages as demonstrated during game 7 WS catch most would not have made because of the other outfielder but Pages did. Why isn’t Mookie being looked at as Average plate wise? Nothing is Perfect but consistency isn’t easy in Professional Baseball. Look at league today. How many have averages .250+ starters?
Goal for Dodgers is better hitting Coaching emphasized to being able to recognize the pitch faster, teach how to stop forward swings,
In batting practice work on this daily during season. 4-5 pitches each time so it becomes Natural. 100+ fastballs, Crank up batting machine to 102.
If you take Golf balls and play short catch using under hand throws, which doesn’t hurt arm, make your Eyes see a Golf Ball…Why, because it’s much smaller than a Baseball which makes a Baseball seem Larger more Readable in Actual Play. I would also remove any Pool tables etcetera and replace with said Golf Balls or other activities off field similar sized balls. See where this is going? Focus on What did not happen rather than success during season and Playoffs. If Dodgers 3-Peat it will be because of improvement in Pitching and plate appearances. Defense is pretty good and improving can help.
When the Athletics were bad they implemented on base percentage and won 20 straight games.
Dodgers, Make Changes to your workouts besides what already works!
    Be innovative!

    1. I like your incentive laden contract idea. But Scott BorAss is Bellinger’s agent and he will NEVER go for that. 5 years, 25 million is the most I think the Dodgers should offer. He is no longer a 30 million dollar man but he is still very serviceable according to the metrics. I think he would do well back in LA,

  2. Dodgers should go after Bader and play him in CF. Move Pages to RF and Teo back to LF if you can’t trade him.
