The Marlins Are Selling: Here’s One Player the Dodgers Could Trade For That No One’s Talking About

There are still two months until the MLB trade deadline this year, but it already looks like the Miami Marlins will sell. At 19-35 – second worst in the National League – they would need to go on a historic run to be in contention. The Marlins do have some enticing pieces that the Dodgers should pursue if made available.

Doug McKain of DodgersNation compiled a list of players Los Angeles could add to bolster the bottom of the lineup. Bryan de la Cruz could be someone the Dodgers bring in at the deadline.

The 27-year-old has been a bright spot on an otherwise disappointing Marlins team. He’s currently hitting .258 with a .745 OPS and nine home runs.

However, of the possible outfield options, de la Cruz will not come cheap. He still has multiple years left of team control which will drive up his price.

The Dodgers have two large holes on this roster and de la Cruz could solve both of them. Los Angeles gets very little offensive production from their outfield and the bottom of the lineup. The right-hander could come in and immediately lengthen the lineup and upgrade one of the worst units in baseball.

  1. It is World Series Champs or bust. Go out and get what you need. Third baseman, to reset the infield, starting pitcher, closer. Championship!

    1. Dodgers missed their chance. Should’ve gone after Arraez. Love home grown Lux, but we’re talking about a2time batting champ who’s not a FA until after 2025 and currently makes less than CT3. Trade lux and two prospects I think Miami takes that deal. We then have a pure hitter in the lineup.
