It’s the last weekend of September, marking the first official weekend of fall.
It may not feel like it yet, but those cooler temperatures are coming.
In the meantime, there’s plenty to do around Southern California, including multiple festivals.
Check out some highlights below and have fun!
Watts Towers Drum and Jazz Festivals
When: Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: 1727 E. 107th St., Los Angeles, CA 90002
The 44th annual Watts Towers Day of the Drum Festival and 49th annual Simon Rodia Watts Towers Jazz Festival are this Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
On Saturday, enjoy acts like Gan Gan Akojopo and Bloco Obini, and on Sunday, performers include Larry Nash and the Jazz Symphonic All-Stars, as well as MEDUSA Tha Gangsta Goddess.
Attendees can also participate in tours of the Towers, grab something to eat at the food court, and enjoy art galleries.
These events are free and fun for the whole family.
Pasadena Chalk Festival
When: Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 27, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Where: Brookside Park, 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91103
Hundreds of artists come together to create huge, beautiful chalk murals at Brookside Park near the Rose Bowl this weekend.
“They range in both style and subject matter, including funny or whimsical illustrations, portraits of people, recreations of masterpieces, incredible original designs, adorable characters, moving tributes, powerful statements, and just plain jaw-dropping art,” organizers said. “This is not your typical visual art experience; it allows you into the ‘studio’ of the artist, where you can talk with them and see them at work.”
Admission for the event is free.
Riverside Art & Music Festival
When: Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2 to 9 p.m.
Where: White Park, 3936 Chestnut St., Riverside, CA 92501
“Join us in the heart of Downtown Riverside for the 2026 Riverside Art & Music Festival, a free, family-friendly celebration of arts, culture, and community,” organizers said. “This annual event features live music, art installations, workshops, local artist vendors, and performances that showcase the creativity and talent of Riverside.”
Admission is free, though there will be items for sale.
“Explore more than 50 artisan vendors sharing original artwork, handmade goods, creative products, and local culture,” organizers said.
As for music, there will be two stages, and the headliner on the Main Stage is Levitation Room.
There’s more to do than just music and art, though.
“Enjoy free workshops, carnival games and prizes, yard games including Yardzee and cornhole, and family-friendly activities,” organizers said.
