Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Tommy Edman is gearing up for a run at a third straight championship, and he sat down with Dodgers Nation’s Noel Sanchez to talk about his love for LA and where the team is ahead of the playoffs.
Edman, who’s helping give away $25,000 worth of gasoline, has only been in LA for about two and a half years, but he said he feels the SoCal love.
“It seems like it was just yesterday, but obviously there’s been a ton that’s happened in those two years,” he said. “I’ve really grown to love L.A. The city of L.A. has really embraced me as one of their own. And it’s been nice to come back to SoCal, being from San Diego as well, close to home, so it just feels like a very familiar place to be.”
Getting ready for another tough October
Edman and the Dodgers, having won back-to-back titles, have played more games than anyone else since the start of 2024.
Add into that the 162-game regular season that all teams play and these Dodgers have every reason to be tired.
That said, Edman believes this team still has plenty of gas in the tank to take a run at another World Series title.
“Obviously we’ve gone as far as we can go the last two years,” he said. “So it’s a lot of baseball, but this is what we all play for. All the regular season games kind of lead up to the postseason, and we’re just really excited to get going. You feel that extra adrenaline once you get to postseason, too. It gives us that little boost of energy.”
Dodgers ‘hungrier’ for third championship than the first two
It would be easy to assume that the Dodgers might rest on their laurels.
After all, back-to-back World Series titles is an incredible achievement on its own, but Edman said it only makes the team more driven to win a third.
“I think having experienced the last two Octobers and just how exciting it is actually makes us hungrier for that third World Series title,” he said. “Obviously it’s a lot of baseball to play, but I think it’s just, there’s just nothing that can top it, nothing that can top those crazy October games. So we’re really excited to get going. Obviously, we’ve got to take care of a little bit of business still here in September, but it’s going to be another fun month.”
