Two Injured Dodgers Pitchers Making Triple-A Rehab Appearances Tonight

The Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen has reinforcements like Brusdar Graterol and Michael Grove on the way. Both are scheduled to appear for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, per broadcaster Alex Freedman.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters before Sunday’s series finale against the Boston Red Sox that both players would need five to seven rehab outings before being recalled.

Grove went on the injured list in mid-June with a right lat strain. At the time, he had an earned run average of 5.06 in 28 games. He struggled in the three games leading up to his injury allowing four runs in four innings. Before then, he only allowed four runs in 16.1 innings over 15 appearances.

Graterol has yet to pitch this season for the Dodgers. He has been recovering from a shoulder injury that occurred during spring training. However, he was spectacular for Los Angeles last season finishing the year with an ERA of 1.20 across 68 appearances.

Getting both relievers back is huge for the Dodgers who have been forced to rely on relievers more often recently with injuries to the starting rotation. The pitchers who have started haven’t been able to pitch deep into games. Collectively, the starting rotation hasn’t earned a win in nearly a month.

Things could change quickly as guys come off the IL one at a time. Reliever Joe Kelly was the first to return. Starter Tyler Glasnow returns Wednesday followed by Clayton Kershaw on Thursday.
