Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow, who has been out for more than two months, is finally pitching competitively again.
Glasnow is heading to the Inland Empire, joining Blake Snell and Edwin Diaz as pitchers who have rehabbed with the Ontario Tower Buzzers.
The Tower Buzzers are in their inaugural season as the Dodgers’ Single-A affiliate, debuting the newly built ONT Field.
According to Dodgers insider Katie Woo, Glasnow will be pitching in Ontario on Tuesday.
Over the past couple of weeks, Glasnow has pitched in multiple bullpen sessions and live batting practice, starting his ramp-up after an on-and-off recovery over the last few months.
He was pulled after one inning back in May on the road against the Houston Astros with back spasms.
The injury was anticipated to be minor for the Dodgers, but like many this year, it ended up developing into more and requiring an extended absence.
He started to ramp up, then stopped his pitching program, leading to a notable period of time on the mend.
However, Glasnow is finally ready to really accelerate his return to the Dodgers, helping secure their six-man rotation sooner rather than later.
The Dodgers have an opening in their rotation thanks to Shohei Ohtani taking a pitching break. Blake Snell is one rehab start away from coming back, but Glasnow would provide an extra starter and an upgrade over Eric Lauer or the inconsistent Emmet Sheehan.
What impact will Glasnow’s return have on the Dodgers’ trade plans?
In her report, Katie Woo made it clear that the return of Glasnow and Snell will not stop the Dodgers from being involved in talks over Tarik Skubal.
“Skubal, the reigning two-time AL Cy Young winner, certainly qualifies as a star player — and he’s available. The Dodgers will be involved in the bidding, even with Snell and Glasnow inching closer to returns,” her report reads.
Glasnow, as evident from his 2025 postseason run, is a highly-trusted arm who can step up whenever he is needed, either as a starter or even in the bullpen if needed.
If the Dodgers got Skubal and everyone is healthy, Glasnow may be the odd man out, but as an incredible high-leverage arm, he would be insurance in case any starter had a bad outing.
