VIDEO: Dee Gordon Makes Leaping Catch And Turns Double Play
With the Pittsburgh Pirates in town for a four-game series, Dee Gordon continued to rack up stolen bases and expand his MLB lead in the category. Gordon hit an RBI single in the second inning to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead and promptly stole second and third base.
Unfortunately, Gordon would be stranded at third as Andre Ethier struck out to end the inning. In the fourth, with the Dodgers still holding the run-one lead, Gordon nearly made a spectacular play on a ball that hit off Dan Haren’s glove. Ike Davis beat the throw by a step and the Pirates had the tying run on-base with no outs.
Gordon quickly made up for the missed opportunity as the next batter, former Los Angeles Dodger Russell Martin lined a ball that Gordon made a leaping catch on and threw to first to double up Davis. Pedro Alvarez then struck out and the Dodgers took their lead to the bottom of the fourth.
