Yankees Selling Shohei Ohtani Jerseys, Other Dodgers Merchandise in Team Store

The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading to New York for a highly-anticipated series between two of Major League Baseball’s most storied franchises. While the Yankees are the undisputed greatest team in MLB history with 27 World Series championships, it’s been the Dodgers who have had more success as of late with 11 straight postseason appearances.

The star power in this year’s matchup is undeniable, especially with the team’s most recent offseason additions. While the Dodgers signed Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Yankees traded for Juan Soto.

Those players added to already loaded rosters that include the likes of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Aaron Judge, and Gerrit Cole.

With all the star power in this series, the Yankees are trying to take advantage in their team store. The Yankees have tons of Dodger-related merchandise they’re selling at the stadium during this weekend’s series.

First, there are joint Ohtani and Judge bobbleheads, which are selling for $150.

Then, there’s a joint Ohtani and Judge collector pin commemorating the series.

Then, there are Ohtani-Judge hats, which each player’s jersey number. And finally, most shockingly, there are Ohtani Dodgers jerseys.

It’s hard to blame the Yankees for trying to take advantage of the popularity of Ohtani and the Dodgers — and they’re far from the only team doing it this season.

Still, it’s a little strange to see an opposing team as popular as the Yankees selling the jersey of an opposing team player.

But that’s just the Ohtani effect.
