Dodgers News: Teoscar Hernandez Worked With Andy Pages on Swing, Leading to Immediate Results

Andy Pages singled on the first pitch he saw during his major league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers but he wasn’t happy with his approach over the next four games.

He went a combined 1-for-13 after the hit with six strikeouts. So, he asked for help.

Pages approached coaches and teammates for guidance with fellow outfielder Teoscar Hernandez stepping up in a big way. On Sunday, the two pantomimed swing patterns in front of Hernández’s locker before the Dodgers’ 10-0 win over the New York Mets. Pages also hit his first career home run that day.

“It’s just something mechanical I’ve been working on, and he helped me out with it,” Pages said. “(My teammates) have been here longer than I have, and they all know how these pitchers operate. But they’ve been helping me a lot, in general.”

The rookie quickly credited those who helped him after his successful outing on Sunday.

“I’m just trying to do the best that I can every day. I’m taking the advice from the coaches and trying to do everything I can and keep making the adjustments,” he said.

Pages understands he has room to grow. There’s a difference between facing minor and major league pitching, but he taking a step forward each game and handling this opportunity like a true professional.

“This is the best baseball in the world. The pitchers don’t make as many mistakes,” he said. “But it’s all still baseball, and the only way I can go is forward.”
