Austin Barnes Ejected After Arguing with Umpire in Dodgers Finale vs Dbacks

Frustrations flared in the Dodgers’ Sunday matinee in Arizona as catcher Austin Barnes was ejected by the home plate umpire after arguing balls and strikes. With the Dodgers getting blown out 11-3 in the game, it’s easy to be upset. But it seems that the big issue was more the inconsistent strike zone in the eyes of Barnes.

The straw that broke the camel’s back appears to be this missed call.

Barnes and home plate umpire Lance Barrett had a bit of a discussion after the called ball that apparently kept going after Austin got back down into the crouch. Barrett tossed him and Barnes got up in his face, letting it all out.

Here’s the play, caught by Twitter user @toastsams13.

It was the first time he has been ejected in his MLB career.

Will Smith took over at catcher, ending his off day.

More to come on this story after the game.
