Chris Taylor Happy to Finally Help Dodgers, Despite Loss on Friday

The Dodgers fell to the New York Mets 9-4 on Friday night, but not without a contribution from fan-favorite Chris Taylor. Taylor, who has struggled this year, tied the game in the sixth with a two-RBI single.

After the game, Taylor spoke to the media, including Cary Osborne of Dodgers Insider, and felt relieved to help the team.

“It just felt good to do something to help the team, honestly. It’s no secret I’ve been grinding a little bit. I’m just trying to keep things as simple as I possibly can, like look for something in the middle of the plate. I was just able to come through finally.”

Before Friday night, Taylor had only recorded one hit in his first 35 at-bats. He did this while striking out an alarming 18 times.

Since becoming a Dodgers in 2016, Taylor has come up with his fair share of big moments. He’s also been known as one of the game’s streakiest hitters.

Taylor has admitted that he has a rather complex swing with many moving parts. For him, all of those parts need to be working the right way for him to get the results he wants. This has certainly contributed to both his hot and cold streaks throughout his career.

There are times when he lights the world on fire. Conversely, there are times, like the beginning of this year, when he looks lost.

It’s not always pretty with Taylor at the plate, but the Dodgers don’t need him hot right now. With his propensity for coming up clutch, the Dodgers need Taylor feeling right in October.
