While Dee Gordon has at times appeared worn down at the plate and on the basepaths, which is likely a byproduct of having played over 130 games this season, his defense has been unwavering.
In the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game, Gordon was at it again. Brandon League was on the mound with one out and runners on first and second base. Corey Dickerson hit a grounder up the middle that Gordon made a diving stop on and in one motion, rolled the ball from his glove towards Justin Turner at second base.
Not content with simply getting the force out at second base, Turner picked the ball up with his foot on the bag and threw to Adrian Gonzalez to complete the inning-ending double play. While League didn’t allow a run in the inning, the Dodgers were unable to rally a comeback and dropped the second of the three-game series.
