Diamondbacks Team President Will Not Forbid Dodgers From Jumping into the Pool at Chase Field
Ten years ago, the 2013 Dodgers began a streak of dominance in the National League West. The club secured the first of eight consecutive division titles with a 7-6 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona. Now the stretch has run to 10 NL West crowns in 11 seasons but it was then that the boys in blue performed a crime so heinous that Phoenix Police were called in for the next time LA had the chance to clinch a playoff berth at Chase Field.
The 2013 Dodgers jumped into the pool and, you know… like, splashed around a little bit.
Since then, the Diamondbacks have forbidden the Dodgers from even looking at the pool (not literally) beyond the fence in right field. But on Friday, on the eve of game one of the National League Division Series against one another, D-backs team president Derrick Hall undid a decade of wrong.
He said the Dodgers could go for a swim if they win.
Here’s a look back at “PoolGate” from back on September 19, 2013.
Back then, Diamondbacks officials called the act “disrespectful” and have made sure to preemptively shut down any potential pool parties for LA in 2017 and even last year when there was the possibility of the team clinching in Arizona.
Perhaps the D-backs organization lightened up recently when their team celebrated a Wild Card spot with a win on October 1st.
Depending on how the five game series shakes out, the Dodgers would have the potential to secure the NLDS and move on to the next round next Wednesday or Thursday in Arizona when the series shifts to Chase Field for games three and four.
Don’t expect a splash down either way.
