Dodgers Appear To Be Trolling Padres With Epic Giveaways at Dodger Stadium
The San Diego Padres had to endure watching the Los Angeles Dodgers roll through the postseason and cap off the 2024 campaign with a World Series title. But it appears the Dodgers will take another jab at their little brother next season.
During a three-game series against the Padres in June, the Dodgers will be giving away a World Series trophy replica so San Diego will get its first look at championship hardware on June 17.
However, the fun doesn’t end there. The Dodgers will be giving away a Blake Snell bobblehead on June 16. Snell spent the 2021-2023 seasons with the Padres, but will now be wearing Dodger blue for the next five years.
While the Dodgers and Yankees matchup was a classic rivalry for the Fall Classic, many baseball fans felt there was more excitement and competition in the National League Division Series. The Dodgers entered October with a worn down pitching staff and a tattered postseason reputation. The Padres entered the NLDS playing red, hot baseball.
The playoff series was a movie, starting off with a slugfest in Game 1 of the NLDS. The Dodgers came out victorious with a 7-5 triumph, which featured Shohei Ohtani’s game-tying three-run homer in the second inning.
Then came the fateful Game 2 at Chavez Ravine. Fernando Tatis Jr. blew kisses toward Dodgers fans and Jurickson Profar taunted the crowd as San Diego hammered the Dodgers 10-2 to tie up the series.
As the NLDS went back to San Diego, the Padres had the upper hand. Petco Park has earned a reputation for being electric, raucous, and rowdy. The Dodgers endured another loss, but this time it was a defeat by only one run.
The Dodgers entered Game 4 on the brink of elimination, but the bullpen saved the season. Eight Dodgers relievers shut out the dynamic Padres lineup, leading to a final score of 8-0.
Game 5 of the NLDS was pure cinema. It was veteran pitcher Yu Darvish versus rookie Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Padres’ season ended with 24 consecutive scoreless innings, meanwhile Kiké Hernández and Teoscar Hernández both hit solo homers to send the Dodgers to the Championship Series.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
The Padres may want to forget about the nightmarish ending to the NLDS, but the Dodgers’ perfectly-timed giveaways next season make it impossible for that to happen.
