Dodgers Are Hiring for a Baseball Strategist… and It’s Not a Joke

Someone needs to teach the Dodgers front office a little thing about timing. Show them what it means to read the room.

Following their embarrassing and untimely series loss to the Padres in the NLDS, the overall feelings around the organization were at an all-time low. The best thing the Dodgers organization could do at a time like this was lay low, and let the grieving period run its toll before making any headlines.

They didn’t.

Instead, the Dodgers decided to list a new position on teamworkonline.com: Junior Analyst, Baseball Strategy & Information.

I mean, come on. Not even a week after their disappointing early postseason exit, the Dodgers are publicly looking for someone to help with their scouting and baseball strategy. It’s almost funny at this point.

Levity (and still a little anger) aside, qualified Dodger fans can take advantage of the opportunity. If you think you can help the team out, or know someone who can, feel free to send in an application! Maybe you can be the reason the Dodgers don’t lose in the NLDS next year!

  1. A psychiatrist would have a field day. Open up Roberts, Kastens head to see if there is anything inside.

  2. I’ll do it, fire Roberts and aTerry Francona. Just like padres hired a veteran manager from the Oakland A’s a low payroll team let’s do the same. Oh I forgot Andrew Friedman doesn’t like too pay manager’s more money than he makes.

  3. You don’t need to be a genius to see what’s wrong. It’s a lot simpler than they think. Analytics will get you into the playoffs and win a ton of REGULAR SEASON GAMES. But it won’t in the postseason. Tommy Lasorda told Robert’s Congratulations after a game 6 win to force a game 7 vs Houston in 2017. And then Said But AINT DONE S***. Pulling pitchers early and constantly doing all these changes won’t work in the playoffs maybe a game but not entire series. What they need to to do is Call up NolanRyan and ask how he got his pitchers to go passed 6 to 7 innings and train hard for that. Become horses. Robert’s or whoever is Coaching needs to manage with his gut not a pc a paper or wait for the call from upstairs because that’s what’s been happing for 10yrs. It’s time to move on from that and go old school man.

  4. Man, I’m studying to get a job like this. But I’m not ready yet. hahahaha I’m going to try to major in Computer Science. I already have a BA in Physical Education so I think this would be an addition.

But one thing about strategy that I was thinking and would see if the data confirms is: that thing about resting the team in September doesn’t work. Performance in sports is so complex that it takes a lot of time to get to the best level. Therefore, the rest in September makes it impossible to get the best performance in October. You need to play September 100%, so you’ll be ready to play in October. The Braves and Nationals played their lives in August and September and were champions. The 2020 Dodgers played the entire season that way (because each one mattered more), and they won the WS.

  5. This seems a bit like the Captain of the Titanic announcing one of his officers will now be the ship’s on-board swimming instructor – just after they hit the iceberg.
