Dodgers: Bobby Miller and Miguel Vargas Predicted to be Amongst ROY Contenders in NL

With the 2023 MLB season upon us (80 days till Opening Day), there are set to be new and upcoming faces of the league. The MLB, specifically the Dodgers, have a ton of young rookies/players ready to showcase their talent at the big league level.

None others are ready more than two of the Dodgers’ top prospects, Miguel Vargas and Bobby Miller. Both will play crucial roles in 2023 and prove they belong in the major leagues.

With that being said, MLB writer, Jonathan Mayo asked people with tons of baseball knowledge who will win Rookie of the year for both leagues, and sticking with the N.L. side of things, both Vargas and Miller received some votes.

66% – Corbin Carroll, OF, D-backs

9% – Francisco Álvarez, C, Mets

Also received votes: Elly De La Cruz, SS/3B, Reds; Sal Frelick, OF, Brewers; Matt Mervis, 1B, Cubs; Bobby Miller, RHP, Dodgers; Jared Shuster, LHP, Braves; Ezequiel Tovar, SS, Rockies; Miguel Vargas, 3B/OF, Dodgers; Jordan Walker, OF, Cardinals.

Leading things in the N.L. is Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corin Carroll, who looks like the run-away favorite thus far. Carroll debuted in late August 2022 and had 104 ABs, 27 hits, and a .830 OPS.

MLB didn’t release how many percentage of the votes both Miller and Vargas received, but it doesn’t matter. Last season, Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz had the best odds to win NL ROTY; instead, Braves outfielder Michael Harris won, and he was far from being projected to win it all, according to Draft Kings.

Dodger fans have seen a little of what Miller has to offer, and we’re all excited to see what he has in store for us.

Vargas played in 18 games with the Dodgers and was below average, slashing .170/.200/.255; however, he will have plenty of opportunity to show what he can do in a far more significant role with an entire season ahead of him.

It’s great to see that L.A. has guys who have the potential to lead the charge for years to come.
