Dodgers Catcher Will Smith and Wife Cara Donate Baseball Equipment Through Foundation

As you’ve seen all winter long, the Dodgers are all about using their platforms for good and pouring into causes they believe in.

From Mookie Betts’ Bowling Tournament to Chris Taylor’s Top Golf Event, the Dodgers team has proved time and time that life is more than just the game of baseball.

This month, Will and his wife Cara Smith returned to his hometown in Louisville, Kentucky to serve his community.

Through his foundation called Catching Hope Foundation, he was able to partner with Nike Diamond to donate shoes, hoodies, and sports gear for the kids at West End High School.

Will Smith also shared a short video through his foundation’s organization about the event which took place at the beginning of the month. Their website shared more details about the event:

“On February 3, 2023, Will and Cara Smith were excited to hold a meet and greet at West End School in Louisville, Kentucky. Together with Nike, Catching Hope was able to outfit middle school students with a variety of merchandise.”

The Smith’s started their Catching Hope Foundation in 2021 with the following mission statement:

“We are a nonprofit organization working to help at-risk low-income youths in transition with critical skills needed for leadership, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency. The organization helps students develop the tools to help them achieve success, starting with those who need it most.”

Back in October, the couple was able to partner with Playworks to encourage and support the well-being and health of students at William Northrup Elementary School in Alhambra, which is located in downtown Los Angeles.

The Dodgers starting catcher recently became a dad and is also expected to play for Team USA in this year’s World Baseball Classic. He’s had a busy first few years in the major leagues and it’ll be fun to see what he does both on the field and within the community as well this upcoming year.

  1. Without so much knowledge of the game and all the players in history, Will Smith is hands down one of my favorite MLB players. Love this guy , stoked to read this.
