Will Smith is an American professional baseball player who currently plays as a catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was born on March 28, 1995, in Louisville, Kentucky. Smith was selected by the Dodgers in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft and made his Major League debut in 2019. He quickly established himself as the Dodgers’ primary catcher, known for his strong arm and excellent defense behind the plate. In 2020, Smith had a breakout season, hitting .289 with 15 home runs and 42 RBIs in just 47 games. He was a notable contributor to the Dodgers World Series championship that year, hitting several key home runs in the playoffs.
Smith is considered one of the top young catchers in the game and is expected to be a key player for the Dodgers for years to come. Will and Cara established the Catching Hope Foundation in 2021 to work on helping at-risk and low income youth and families.
