Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Provides Injury Updates on Brusdar Graterol, Blake Treinen

The Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t likely to get right-handed pitchers Brusdar Graterol or Blake Treinen back anytime soon. Earlier this week, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided an update that both Graterol and Treinen are “a ways away” from returning, via Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain.

Graterol is facing both inflammation in his right shoulder and hip tightness that has him starting the season on the 15-day injured list. When healthy, he is one of the Dodgers’ better relievers. In 2023, the now fifth-year Dodger played in a career-high 68 games where he recorded a career-low 1.20 ERA. This mark was by far the lowest of his career.

Meanwhile, Treinen is coming back this season after not pitching since 2022, and not pitching a full season since 2021. Treinen underwent surgery to fix his right shoulder labrum and a torn rotator cuff. He returned from this injury to pitch 3.2 innings during Spring Training, but he was struck by a comebacker and now has a lung contusion. When he was last available for a full season in 2021, Treinen recorded a 1.99 ERA across 72 innings.

Graterol and Treinen were playing catch together on Saturday, which is a good sign in their recovery process.

  1. Both of these guys are great pitchers and are critical links in the Dodger bullpen, but both need to man up and get in the game like they are being paid to do. Geez!

    1. Yes lets rush them both back before they are ready and lose them for the rest of the season. Go bother Art Carney, Ralph…

  2. It sounds like you want them to play while injured. Get a grip, macho man! Let them heal.
