Dodgers: Dave Roberts Shares Tony Gonsolin’s Status Post-Injury

After missing the last six weeks of last season with a forearm injury, Tony Gonsolin is healthy and cleared to play. The pitcher has taken the time to fully recover and is ready to lock in once again for this season.

While at spring training, manager Dave Roberts talked to reporters about a series of topics. One topic that was addressed was Gonsolin’s status and if the pitcher is prepared for the upcoming season:

“For Tony, he took on a lot last year and I think at the end he was fatigued and had some soreness. I think the regular offseason, he had some rest and recovery, he’s back to feeling good and strong. He’s a full go.”

Before his forearm strain, the righty was in many Cy Young Award discussions. The 2020 World Series champion was 16-1 with a 2.14 ERA last season. There was no doubt that Gonsolin had a strong 2022 season before his injury impacted his activity.

The Dodgers certainly see a lot of value in him as they recently gave the 28-year-old a new 2-year contract this offseason. Now that Gonsolin is healthy again, he will be able to compete and deliver as he did for the team pre-injury.
