Dodgers Fall Out of the Top 5 in Latest MLB Power Rankings
It was not the best week for the Dodgers. After dominating the Giants and Diamondbacks the week prior, Los Angeles came into Houston and split a 2-gmae series with the Astros. They took game 1 of a series with San Francisco at home, but then the wheels fell off.
The Giants came back and scored 24 runs in 3 games and took the rest of the series from the Dodgers. Los Angeles finished the week losing 4 of 6 games and sliding back in Major League Baseball’s power rankings.
The latest update from MLB has the Dodgers all the way back at number 6. That is the first time in a very long time that Los Angeles has not been included in the top 5 of the rankings. The Giants came in at number 5 and the Padres finished number 1 overall.

The good news is that the series loss did not appear to slow the Dodgers down. They came out swinging in their first game against the Cardinals and won on Monday 9-4. They’ll play 2 more against St Louis this week before heading to Atlanta to play a tough Braves team.
The Dodgers get a little bit of a break in the schedule after that series, playing a total of 6 games against the last-place Pirates and last-place Rangers. Those 2 teams have combined for just 42 wins in 2021.
Time to make up some ground in the NL West. Taking the series against St Louis this week would be a huge step in the right direction.
