Dodgers Fans Are Not Over Astros Sign-Stealing Scandal, According to Poll

Let’s take a trip back in time. While this may not be the best of memories for Dodger fans, it’s still a part of history and something worth remembering. Back in 2017, the Dodgers reached the World Series for the first time since 1988. They had one of the best teams in the league and everything just left like it was “the” year for the franchise to get back on top of the championship mountain. Yet, fate had other ideas as the team was defeated by the Houston Astros in seven games in heartbreak fashion. However, this wasn’t even the worst of it.

While most fans can agree that when a team loses it stings but you can chalk it up to them not performing up to the standards that they have set. But when it comes out a few years later that the team that won was cheating, it makes things far worse. That’s exactly what happened to the Dodgers as the Astros were caught cheating during their World Series matchup, ultimately leading to them taking the crown. Dodger fans have hated the Astros ever since and even to this day, they haven’t forgotten or forgiven Houston. Just look at this recent poll conducted prior to the teams series against Houston this weekend.

Clearly Dodger fans aren’t over the scandal and rightfully so. Houston stole a chance for that special 2017 Dodger team to forever be known as champions. They tainted the game of baseball and weren’t even really punished for it. Commissioner Rob Manfred hardly handed down any real consequences and just recently even spoke about his regret in not doing more to punish the team.

It’s a shame if were are being honest because the Dodgers were robbed of a title. Instead of being labeled as chokers for most playoff runs, LA should have two titles in the last six years. The Dodgers should have been the team that hoists a flag in their ballpark claiming to be the 2017 World Series winners.

But the sheer fact that LA took Houston to seven games while the Astros were actively cheating and knowing what pitches were coming their way, tells you everything you need to know. The Dodgers were the best team that year and they were cheated. Simple as that.

Dodger fans may never got over the 2017 scandal and that series will forever have an asterisk associated with it. Luckily for the fans, LA did win a World Series a few years later but it doesn’t take away the pain from 2017. Nothing ever will and the Astros will remain as one of the bigger rivals of the team going forward.

  1. That 2017 Dodger team was loaded, hungry and were playing great baseball that postseason, to have the ring taken off their finger the way that they did was not only completely disgusting but totally unforgivable. I will never acknowledge the Dodgers losing that World Series.

  2. The loss to the astros in 2017 was all on Dave Roberts bungling mismanagement tiring the players out by game 7 and not being quick enough to pull Darvish out of the contest after showing all the signs that he was about to lose it before he gave up the runs. It really boils down to Dave not having enough intelligence to reason very well. And he’s been vastly overcompensated for total failure in every way costing the Dodgers and the city numerous championships with teams so good that it was impossible to lose if the team had a capable manager .

    1. Mike your an idiot! Nobody takes your comment seriously. You obviously have no real professional experience in athletics.

  3. The only sad thing is that Clayton Kershaw likely will never win a legitimate championship in his career at this point.

  4. Astros fans should be the ones pissed.

I don’t understand why other fans bitch as us.

We got caught cheating and we didn’t even get anything from the scheme. There was no benefit. It didn’t work.
I mean if your team’s gonna cheat, at least make it count! Astros fans are the ones that should be pissed. We have to wear this for NOTHING! Other teams’ fans didn’t have anything happen to them or their team. Even the LA Times, The Athletic, and Fangraphs say so.
