Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Reacts to Controversial Play That Got Astros Reliever Ejected
If you’re not up on the rules of baseball, what Astros pitcher Ryne Stanek did in the 8th inning was a balk. By every letter of the rule. Some people only are wildly trying to say that it wasn’t a balk, but anyone not associated with or rooting for the Astros knows it was fully a balk. And Dodgers manager Dave Roberts definitively agreed with second base umpire Junior Valentine after the game.
“It was a balk. He got it right. Obviously, in a game like that, don’t want that to be the deciding run in that situation, but they got the call right. Stanek was trying to look at the pitch clock, maybe, kind of trying to step off and call timeout…”

Said Ryne Stanek's right knee moved.
Miguel Rojas said he saw Stanek start his motion and then move to step off, so he pointed it out.

After recording the final out of the inning, Stanek absolutely lost it, shouting at the second base umpire and anyone in his path. Including Dodgers fans.

The Dodgers rode that balk to an improbable come from behind victory over the Astros and their 43rd win of the season.
