Dodgers Free Agent JD Martinez Has Had Discussions With Surprise NL Team: Report

With the Dodgers’ addition of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, the team now does not need slugger J.D. Martinez. After spending last season with Los Angeles, Martinez is looking for his next destination.

Martinez is still on the open market at this point in the offseason, but he has been connected to multiple teams this winter. There is a new team that has had recent discussions with the former Dodgers designated hitter, the Miami Marlins.

It looks like Martinez may not end up with the Marlins, but he has been linked with other teams like the Los Angeles Angels. Martinez can still provide a team with a notable veteran, who knows what it takes to win at the highest level.

After a productive year with the Dodgers, Martinez is looking to cash in on what may be his final big contract. He is seeking a two-year deal, but so far, no team has been willing to match his asking price.

Last season with Los Angeles, Martinez hit .271 with 33 home runs and 103 runs batted in over 113 games played. He was one of the key members of the Dodgers’ record offense last season, making good on his decision to come to the team in the offseason.

With the season starting soon, Martinez will hopefully land with a team sooner rather than later. His presence in the league is special and showed that he can still be valuable.
