Dodgers Free Agent Kiké Hernández Drawing Interest From Numerous Teams

As the Dodgers wait for a decision on two-way superstar free agent Shohei Ohtani, they also have to make decisions on what to do with some of their own free agents. One of those is utility player Kiké Hernández, who the team re-acquired at the trade deadline last year.

Hernández looked like a completely different player once he came back to the Dodgers, putting up a batting average of .262 and 30 runs batted in over 54 games. If you compare that to his time with the Boston Red Sox last season, it was obvious he felt much more comfortable with the Dodgers.

In 86 games with Boston last season, Hernández hit just .222 and drove in 31 runs. He effectively looked like a different hitter, which has led many to believe that Hernández could make his way back to Los Angeles this off-season.

If the Dodgers are going to bring him back, they will have some competition for his services. National MLB reporter Mark Feinsand of MLB.com is reporting that the utility player is getting interest from multiple playoff-caliber teams this winter.

“Kiké Hernandez is receiving interest from a number of playoff-caliber teams in need of a center fielder, a source said, as he is viewed as one of the better defensive alternatives on the market.”

Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com

Bringing back Hernández would give the Dodgers much-needed flexibility within their roster construction due to his ability to play multiple positions. LA values defensive versatility very much, and he would fit their 26-man roster perfectly.

It remains to be seen if the Dodgers will indeed bring back Hernández, but fans would absolutely love it if they did. Hernández is a fan favorite and the hope is that the team can bring him back for another run this coming season.

  1. Why wouldn’t the Dodgers bring Hernandez back? A guy like that is invaluable to any team wanting to be successful. He’s a Dodger through and through. Make it happen Andrew.
