Dodgers Free Agent Target Robert Stephenson to Sign With Angels: Report
Dodgers free agent target Robert Stephenson has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Angels. Robert Murray of FanSided was first to report on the agreement, which is pending a physical.
Stephenson is the second Dodgers’ bullpen target to sign with an American League West team on Friday. Josh Hader joined the Houston Astros on a five-year, $95 million deal on Friday morning. The terms for Stephenson’s contract with the Angels is not yet known.
The Dodgers have been linked to Stephenson all offseason long. The 30-year-old had a dominant 2023 season after joining the Tampa Bay Rays midseason.
He went 3-1 with a 2.35 ERA in 42 appearances, striking out 60 batters in 38.1 innings pitched. He earned himself a nice contract on the open market, so it’ll be interesting to see what the Angels are paying him.
Stephenson was one of the four relievers we wrote about earlier on Friday as potential bullpen targets for the Dodgers. With Stephenson joining Hader off the board, the Dodgers will have to look elsewhere from more bullpen help.
