Dodgers Game Updates vs Pirates: Emmet Sheehan Pitches for America, Vargas Benched

Happy Independence Day! The Dodgers downed the Pirates by a final of 5-2 in game one of this four game series and will look to keep the momentum going with rookie Emmet Sheehan (2-0, 2.65 ERA) on the mound. Pittsburgh turns to its own rookie, Luis Ortiz (2-3, 4.11 ERA).

The Dodgers are usually at their best playing at home as evidenced by the club’s .625 winning percentage at Dodger Stadium.

Pitching Matchup

Emmet Sheehan makes the 4th big league start of his career and is coming off a relatively nice outing in Colorado against the Rockies where he allowed 3 runs in 5 innings. The rookie right-hander has been much better while pitching at Dodger Stadium as his 1.50 ERA over 12 innings will tell you.

The Dodgers will be facing Luis Ortiz for the first time on Tuesday.

One Comment

  1. Move Muncy to 2B, Chris Taylor to 3B [or switch them]. Move Peralta to CF, ask JD Martinez to play LF once in a while or DeLuca. Betts is their best option at SS, Heyward in RF. Minimize the holes in the lineup by not starting Rojas and Vargas and Outman. Score 1/2 a run more per game. Trade for Arenado.
