Dodgers Game vs Dbacks: Will Smith Out of Lineup in Game 3; How to Watch Tonight

The Dodgers look to right the ship against the Diamondbacks and get back over .500 and they’re sending the right guy in the mound to do it. In a throwback classic, Clayton Kershaw will face Arizona starter and long-time enemy Madison Bumgarner at Dodger Stadium tonight.

Here’s a look at the lineup that will face Madbum.

  1. Mookie Betts, RF
  2. Freddie Freeman, 1B
  3. J.D. Martinez, DH
  4. Max Muncy, 3B
  5. Chris Taylor, LF
  6. Miguel Vargas, 2B
  7. Trayce Thompson, CF
  8. Miguel Rojas, SS
  9. Austin Barnes, C

Big changes up and down the lineup card. Trayce Thompson and Chris Taylor get their first starts of the season facing the left-hander. Austin Barnes will catch Kershaw while Will Smith gets his first day off of the season. Dave Roberts explained why Smith is on the bench.

“I didn’t want Will to catch three in a row out of the gate because he hasn’t done that since last year,” Roberts said. “If it lines up with Clayton and (his and Barnes’) familiarity, that’s great, but it’s not something we’re trying to make happen because they’re familiar.”

Here’s the lineup the Snakes are sending out to face Kersh.

These two teams will face off once again on Sunday before taking a three day break and meeting again in Arizona next Thursday.

First pitch tonight is at 6:10 pm PST, and you can watch it on Spectrum SportsNet LA, or listen on AM570 LA Sports Radio in your car or on the iHeartRadio app.

  1. I understand catching Barnes for Smith but don’t see wisdom in sitting the only guy hitting rather than DH in place of someone who isn’t. This is going to be a problem for Roberts all year and underscores the mistake in signing Martinez. Should have resigned JT instead.
