Dodgers: How Zach McKinstry Won Someone $100,000 on Wednesday Night

The Dodgers were pretty close to entering the 9th inning with just a 1-run lead on Wednesday night. Given the way that Kenley Jansen has started off the year. fans were happy to see Zack Mckinstry launch one to extend the lead.

As it turns out, that homerun had a whole lot of meaning to one helpless sports bettor. It’s not often that people bet 6-figures on a meaningless regular-season game, but how could you not bet on a Dodgers win.

At +1.5 for the Dodgers run line, McKinstry’s homerun ended up being the difference in this person winning $100,000. The person that placed the bet did so risking over $125,000 and came VERY close to losing out on that.

Funny enough, McKinstry has never really been a big power kind of guy. He hit a combined 11 homeruns in his first 3 minor league seasons but broke out with a big swing at Triple-A in 2019. For one lucky bettor, there was not a better player to have up there in the bottom of the 8th.

Up Next for the Dodgers

The Dodgers head out onto the road this weekend to face the Padres in San Diego. It will be the first game between the two NL West rivals since LA swept them out of the Division Series in 2020. Los Angeles is set to throw Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, and Trevor Bauer in the series.
