Dodgers Insider Doesn’t Expect LA To Be As Successful This Upcoming Season

We are 65 days away from opening day for the Dodgers. Chavez Ravine will be pumping and rocking again, and we can’t wait until that day approaches.

The Dodgers are set for the most part barring any trades, and they will be set to defend their NL West crown and capture another World Series title.

However, the question arises as to if this current Dodgers team is built to win. We may not know the answer to that question once we’re underway.

Dodgers insider Fabian Ardaya joined the Roggin & Rodney show on AM570 last week to discuss the current roster, and Fred Roggin asked Ardaya if this roster is okay; here is what he had to say.

“I mean it’s certainly a talented team. Is it going to win 111 games like it did last year or 106 like it did the year before? Probably not. Not as currently constructed….but it’s definitely going to be a team in contention. Are they going to run away with the NL West? I’m not sure it’s going to be a year that they run away with the Division. That’s the position that we’re in. They still have lots of holes in the roster that probably should be addressed whether it be through trade at the deadline or just within these next couple of weeks. But it’s still obviously a talented roster that has a really good starting point.”

LA remains the favorite to win the NL West despite the Padres’ blockbuster moves and the Dodgers’ lack of moves. However, winning the NL West is not what matters to the Dodgers and their fans; it’s winning the whole thing.

111 wins, 106 wins, 100 wins; it all doesn’t matter unless LA is the last team standing, and currently constructed, the Dodgers are not in that threshold… right now.

The Dodgers aren’t as talented and filled with star power on paper, but that is because we don’t know about the other guys.

Will the rookies play up to par or beyond that? Will the Dodgers rotation hold its own? Can Dave Roberts stay out of his own way? Will the Dodger bats go cold against once it matters?

All these are legit questions, and we’ve seen the answer to these questions season after season now.
Could it change this season with no drastic changes being made?

I doubt it, but I will tune in for the ride.

  1. If he’s talking 111 wins, who cares. Only need around 90 to make the playoffs. If he is talking playoffs, we couldn’t do much worse than last year.

  2. This team will not even make the playoffs as it currently stands. The Padres will win the west. The Cardinals will win the central and the Mets, Phillies and Braves will fight for the east and the two top wild cards. And the dodgers will fight with everyone else for that final wild card. The sad part is that nobody will get fired. Roberts has a cheap contract and Friedman is a god to Guggenheim. I’m sure not going to pay 50 bucks for parking and 15 for a beer at the stadium for this team I’ll hope others feel the same way. So Guggenheim can get there act together, this is a star driven town bring the stars.

    1. You guys have no faith in the Dodgers front office. 80% of their moves have been terrific. The players need to step up and perform in the clutch. Guggenheim is playing with in the rules. And they are over the cap almost every year. Don’t go to the stadium and support, but when they do win again, don’t show up then either
